Humble Dwellings

March 04, 2018

**Hey, everyone! Long time, no talk. I just want to quickly apologize for the lack of posts recently. I've been laying low on social media for the last couple of weeks because I've been in the biggest creative schlump ever. I run on creativity so losing inspiration really is the worst thing. I've tried to post something multiple times but I'd just end up hating it and deleting it. I'm not sure if it's me overthinking or just the weight of everything going on in my life that has taken a toll, but I'm feeling a little bit better and am ready to get back to work! I'm so lucky to have such amazing friends who support me, keep me smiling when I'm not feeling the best, and inspire me every day.

If you know me, you know that I'm obsessed with home decor. I love scrolling through the home section on my favorite online shops and adding pins to my ever-growing Pinterest board. My bedroom is my favorite space in my home-- it's where I feel the most comfortable and is my favorite space to decorate.

I've been putting the "finishing touches" on my room for almost as long as I've lived in it. While I don't think I'll ever be completely done with it, I do feel like I have it almost exactly how I want it. I like to keep my room neat and minimal while still keeping a cozy, lived-in vibe. I gave my room more of a loft feel by adding in a fun, statement couch and a daybed.

The most recent addition to my room was the shelf above my bed. I tend to pick up a lot of random pieces here and there; whether they're little souvenirs from my travels or quirky random art pieces, I wanted somewhere to display them. My shelves are my favorite because they add a lot of character and personality to my room. I've also just added this "DIY" record stand (which is literally just two crates stacked) to not only hold my Crosley and records, but display a couple random bits.

My number one tip when creating a space is not to spend too much. If you're like me and like to constantly switch things out it's best not to spend a fortune on any one piece. Another tip is to not try to completely makeover your room overnight. Slowly add pieces and your space will come together before you know it! Where are your go to places when you want to switch up your home decor? Let me know!
